We are taking sign-ups for the Hidden Meadows Match Play Competition

We are now taking sign-ups for the Hidden Meadows Match Play competition. Here’s the low-down. Sorry this is a little bit long, but it explains the entire format and schedule. You can sign-up by calling the pro shop at 207-827-4779. This is open for anyone that wants to play. We will have special green fee rates for non-members:

$10 entry fee plus green fees

•Match play is a competition that you play against an individual. The format is hole-by-hole, and when a person is ahead by more holes than there are left to play, the match is over. If the match is tied after 18-holes, play continues until a hole is won.

•Handicaps will be used for this competition. USGA or League handicaps may be used. If you do not have a handicap, you can play as a ‘scratch’ (0) handicap, or you can provide scorecards from your last 10 rounds and the pro shop will compute a handicap for you.

•Competition: If Player A has a 10 handicap and his opponent, Player B, has a 16 handicap, Player A gives him six strokes. Those strokes are given on the first six ‘Handicap’ holes as shown on the scorecard. In this instance, Player B would receive a stroke on hole #1, #5, #7, #10, #14 and #16. On hole #1, if Player A scores a 5 and Player B scores a 6, the hole is ‘halved.’ If both players score a 5, Player B would have a ‘net’ 4, and would win the hole. If Player A scores a 5 and Player B scores a 10, giving Player B a ‘net’ 9, Player A wins the hole.

•Players will be seeded by handicap. There will be a drop flight for all players that lose their first round match, so all players are guaranteed a minimum of two matches.

•If enough players sign up to play, we’ll have two flights.

•We will have a separate women’s flight.

Match schedule:
•First round of matches begins the week of July 17th. You have until Sunday, July 23rd to play your match.
•Second round of matches begins the week of July 24th. You have until Sunday, July 30th to play your match.
•Third round of matches begins the week of July 31st. You have until Sunday, August 6th to play your match.
•The finals will be played on Sunday, August 13th at 9 a.m.
•For the first three rounds, if the two players cannot determine a day to play, the match will be played at noon on the Sunday of that round.

•Deadline to sign up is Sunday, July 16th at noon. Pairings will be set by 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 16th.

•The entry fee is $10 for the tournament. Non-members pay a $10 green fee each round. Cart fees are $8 per person for a shared cart, or $10 per person if riding alone.
