Hartt & Herring Win Women’s Scramble in Sudden Death
It took a sudden-death playoff for Nancy Hartt and Diane Herring to win the second annual 2-Person Women’s Scramble at Hidden Meadows Golf Course.
Hartt and Herring defeated Liz Coffin and Karen Bamford on the first hole when Herring knocked in a 54 foot eagle from just off the front edge of the green. After playing partner Bamford missed on her eagle attempt, Coffin’s 11 foot eagle putt for the tie somehow slid just left of the hole.
The Hart/Herring group played with the Coffin/Bamford team during the round, leading throughout until Coffin and Bamford tied things up on their 17th hole of the day.
Third place finishers Jody Lyford and BJ Porter were just one stroke back through 16 holes, but a costly bogey on their 17th hole put them too far behind, and after making a birdie on their last hole of the day, they finished just one shot back with 74.
Hidden Meadows members Stacey Hussey and Maggie Hussey finished two strokes back of the leaders with 75. Peg Buchanan and Deborah Wiley shot 76 for 5th place. Sherrie Thomas and Sue Coffin finished in 6th place with 77 while Durlice Washburn and Cheryl Paulson shot 78 for 7th place.
Nancy Hartt won the closest-to-the-pin on #4 with a shot of 23’11”. Cheryl Paulson hit it 33’11” on #13 and Durice Washburn won the honors on #17 with a shot of 9’8″.
The tournament was a lot of fun and we are planning on it again next year. Thank you to everyone that played!
